I have just completed my thesis on the subject of destination marketing and have received a first class grade for it!
My research was ‘an investigation into the role the British Monarchy plays in creating London’s destination image’. It had interesting results finding that the Royals did have a subconscious affect on some tourists’ perceptions of the capital city. This was especially the case with international tourists from countries with a monarchy previously, because of a nostalgia for the heritage. Even more interestingly, I found that London was felt to be a necessary pilgrimage for UK residents, as it was felt that you need to have visited London to be properly British!
If you agree with me and think it sounds like interesting research, feel free to give it a read; My thesis
